Hello

Having emetophobia isn't a choice and it isn't something you have to put up with either.

People with emetophobia spend a lot of time feeling really, really scared. If that's you then it's also probably true that you are spending a lot of your time trying to keep yourself safe- monitoring foods and other people, constantly scanning your body to see if you are feeling nauseous, avoiding lots of things such as planes or parties or if you're younger, sleepovers. And all of that avoidance makes sense. It probably gives you a little bit of relief, feels as if you are doing the best you can to take care of yourself, to keep yourself safe. Yet over time do you think the fear is getting smaller or gradually getting bigger? For most people I work with, it feels like the fear grows each day, more and more things become harder to do, life starts to shrink a bit and maybe isn't as fun as it used to be.

It's frightening to do something about this and probably frightening to stay the same too. Therapy can feel overwhelming, a giant step into the unknown. It can feel like a risk, to talk about this, to possibly have to do things differently.  So that's why therapy needs to go at your pace, starting off with us trying to get on the same page, understanding together your version of emetophobia- where it might have come from, what you are so scared of and why it isn't getting better even though you are probably working really hard right now.

Parent testimonial 2026

As a parent, it was really hard to witness [my teen's emetophobia]. You feel completely helpless watching your child struggle and no amount of reassurance seemed to make any difference. In fact, the fear just seemed to be getting worse.

Finding Jacky was one of the best things that could have happened for our daughter.

From the very first session, it was obvious how passionate she is about helping young people.  She's warm, kind and endlessly patient, but she also has a wonderful energy that kept every session engaging, even on the days when my daughter wasn't particularly enthusiastic about doing therapy (which is understandable when you're facing something that scares you).

It was clear how much preparation and thought went into every single session. Nothing ever felt generic. Everything was tailored to where our daughter was at that particular point in her journey. Jacky is exceptionally knowledgeable and constantly reinforced healthy ways of thinking and coping, not just during the sessions but in the practical strategies she gave us to use between them.

I was initially a little unsure about doing therapy over Zoom because I worried it might feel impersonal, but it didn’t feel that way at all. The sessions felt completely natural and you end up not even noticing it… and it certainly never affected the relationships built.
